At Inked Authentics, we take pride in ensuring the authenticity of all of our items and every item that we have for sale has been professionally authenticated by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), Beckett Authentication Services (BAS), or James Spence Authentication (JSA).
There are three trusted and established third party autograph authentication companies, Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), Beckett Authentication Services (BAS), and James Spence Authentication (JSA).
Each of the autograph authentication companies have a similar protocol when it comes to authenticating an autograph. Initially a representative and autograph expert of the respective company will examine the autograph(s) and deem it authentic or inauthentic. If deemed authentic, they will place their tamper proof sticker on the item which contains a unique certification number on the sticker that can be cross referenced to the companies database and verified.
Another service of authentication that you typically see on premium value items and/or items with multiple signatures on them is a Letter Of Authenticity (LOA). Each company will issue a printed out document that will display any details that determined the authenticity of the item with a photo of the autograph and the certification number printed on the document. You may also have the sticker placed on the letter itself instead of being on the item. As the photograph will serve as the connection from the autograph and the authentication documents.
The last service of autograph authentication is encapsulation. Encapsulation is when the company places your item into a hard plastic protective and tamper proof case with a label that includes information about the item as well as the certification number instead of a sticker on your item. As of now Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) and Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) are the only two companies to offer this type of service.
How can I check if my certification is genuine?
Each of the three autograph authentication companies have an active database located on their website where you can verify the certification. You can verify your sticker, letter, or label by inputting the certification number, it will show the signer as well as the item. If your item pops up with the correct information, This will ensure that your item is genuine.
